Burr Oak

Quercus macrocarpa

The slowest growing in the oak family, burr oak, also know as mooscup oak or bur oak grows about 1 ft a year, sometimes 3 ft in the righ conditions. These trees can live well over 200 years.

Many animals favor the large acorns produced by this tree, making its chances of reproductive success very little, to cope with this, the tree adapted to only produce acorns every few year, to keep prey from favoring the tree's seeds.
