Shumard Red Oak

Quercus shumardii

These trees have been seen to grow up to 40 ft tall, though, much larger specimens are found in southern parts of their native region, these are seen to grow up to 200 ft tall. Best used commercially for their red color, make great shade trees.

This tree is susceptible to Oak Wilt. Their acorns feed many game animals, including wild turkey, quail, hogs, and white tailed deer, so if you are every hunting, try to stay around the red oaks
